Lowewood Museum is run by Broxbourne Borough Council and covers the history of the whole borough. There are two permanent display galleries and a third used for temporary exhibitions and displays.
The museum holds a large and well indexed collection of photographs of the area.
Lowewood is a listed Georgian house dating from the 1750's, presented to the Borough to house the museum.
The museum is on the High Road between Broxbourne and Hoddesdon, between the Police Station and Broxbourne Civic Hall. It is open 10am to 4pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The Friends of Lowewood Museum is an independant charity founded in 1987 to support the work of the museum. Members assist as volunteers at the museum, help organise temporary exhibitions and provide financial support for specific work on the collection.
To foster interest in local history and the work of the museum the Friends organise a series of monthly evening lectures during the winter.
Membership is either individual or household by annually subscirption.
Further details are available from the Museum.
